🗞️ News

Elon opensources Grok

Elon Musk announced that his AI company xAI will open-source their chatbot Grok this week.

Musk had previously co-founded OpenAI but sued them recently for becoming closed-source and aligning with Microsoft. By making Grok open-source, xAI joins other companies like Meta and Mistral that publish the codes of their chatbots.

Walmart vs Google

Walmart has been investing in generative AI for search capabilities within its app. This allows customers to search based on themes, like planning events, rather than individual products. Walmart's CEO, Doug McMillon, highlighted how quickly they were able to improve the search experience through generative AI.

This poses a potential threat to Google's search dominance, as retailers like Walmart and Amazon aim to be a one-stop shop for customers.

China’s AI for brain surgeons

China beginning tests of an AI chatbot for brain surgeons at hospitals. They trained and refined Llama 2.0, which was developed by Meta, using medical journals, papers, and manuals.

This allowed the chatbot to act as a consultant for neurosurgeons during surgeries. The AI assistant will be tested at 7 hospitals in Beijing and other cities over the coming months.

That’s all.

Stay curious, leaders!
