🗞️ News

8x faster than OpenAI

Scientists from South Korea have developed a new AI image generation model called KOALA that is much faster and more efficient than existing tools like DALL-E 2 and DALL-E 3.

KOALA generates images 8 times faster than DALL-E 2, in under 2 seconds, while running on cheaper GPU hardware and requiring only 8GB of RAM. ETRI also released open-source versions of KOALA.

Robotaxis’ expansion

Waymo, Alphabet’s self-driving car unit, has received approval from California regulators to expand its robotaxi services to additional areas in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Peninsula.

This allows Waymo to operate autonomous taxis without backup drivers in more locations. The approval comes after some safety incidents involving rival Cruise's driverless vehicles and shows increasing confidence in Waymo's technology and safety measures.

Bytedance’s AI interest

Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok, is focusing on AI development by hiring AI personnel. The company has over 300 open positions in generative AI, including more than 100 positions for large language models (LLMs).

Bytedance is currently working on several AI products, including text-to-image and text-to-video technologies.

That’s all.

Stay curious, leaders!
