🗞️ Expanded News

Tesla’s robotaxi

Elon Musk announced that Tesla will unveil its "robotaxi" on August 8 of this year, though he provided no other details.

The technology has not yet achieved true autonomy and still requires active driver supervision. An expert said she’s less worried about its safety than she is about ordinary Tesla Autopilot.

Apple & Shutterstock

Apple recently signed a deal with stock image company Shutterstock, licensing millions of their photos for a price estimated to be between $25-50 million.

Other major tech companies like Meta, Google, and Amazon have also apparently signed similar deals with Shutterstock. In addition to images, Apple is said to be in talks with news publishers to license article content.

A million hours of YouTube in GPT-4

OpenAI transcribed over a million hours of YouTube videos without permission to train GPT-4 model. The company believed this was fair use, but YouTube's terms prohibit unauthorized downloading or scraping of content.

Google spokesperson Matt Bryant said that the company takes “technical and legal measures” to prevent such unauthorized use.

That’s all.

Stay curious, leaders!
